Jo'burg Fashion Week Day 1 - Runway Report
The first day of Jo'burg Fashion Week was dedicated MAINLY to 13 up and coming new generation designers. Kokonut Stylist bring you a review like no other, enjoy.!
First up, is Jessica Sutherland
Jessica has a Bachelor Degree in Fashion from LISOF and she was showcasing her graduation collection and she says it was shaped around the concept of transition. I personally truly loved it, its the kind of designs that one can rock straight from the runway. *I see grey is making a huge comeback, it might just be the new black, lets watch and learn.!

Next, we have the lovely Sunette Scheepers:
She is my fellow varsity mate, Sunette studied Fashion Design at the Tshwane University of Technology and graduated in 2010. Her collection 'In Motion; is inspired by sports attire and physical movement. She puts the 'glam' in sporty.
My personal favorite, Laura Kass:
Laura is a LOSOF graduate, she says her collection was inspired by a wealthy Ghanaian woman who is a market trader. She (Laura) used rich African-inspired material for her collection. I LOVED EVERYTHING and I want to get EVERYTHING she was showcasing.
Phumzile Langa:
She is also a fellow varsity mate. She studied Fashion Design at the University Of Technology and she says her collection draws influence from Japanese anime, samurais, Alice in Wonderland , superheroes, mystic powers and the famous Harajuku station in Tokyo. I know that's a hell-lotta places to draw inspiration from but I can summarize it in two words: Alexander McQueen.! Phumzile's collection has the same fierceness that is iassociated with Alexander McQueen. Sheer Brilliance!
Pride Nkosi:
She says her collection was inspired by Gothic Roman Cathedrals around the world. her designs, she says, are designed to fit curvier and shapely women.
More interesting designs from Fastrack Day:
Minette Meyer:
Nadine Holloway:
Judging from all these designs, all these designers have bright futures ahead of them. I wish them well, all of them.!
Jo'burg Fashion Week - Fastrack Day (In General)
Rabu, 16 Februari 2011
The first thing that comes to mind when I think back to yesterday's Fastrack Day is how much talent South Africa has.
Last night, the much anticipated Jo'burg Fashion Week kicked off at Fashion Kapitol in the Jo'burg CBD. The first show was named 'Fastrack' and the reasoning behind that name is that it was to fast-track the careers of many up and coming designers and its main focus was on what we call "new generation" designers from various universities such as University of Johannesburg, Tshwane University Of Technology, Lisof to name but a few.
Bonang Matheba, was the hostess with the mostess.
I will have the runway report on the actual show tomorrow. Other than the main designers showing, there was Foschini, Ama Kip Kip and Vandal Wear.
Foschini Group
Dj Sbu and Trevor Mando's 'Vandal Authentic Wear'
Ama Kip Kip
The graffiti art on first pic above is an exact depiction of the rich art that was at Fashion Kapitol. There were all sorts of fashionistas and I must say, I find fashion students to be the most stylish people (in terms of originality).
Trend Alert: The color blue!
Elias, a designer. Next year will be his turn to show off his designs at Fashion Week. *Strusbob*
My friend Kat - soo much swag ;-)

Pharrell N*E*R*D Concert ( Delayed Post)
I know this should have been up a long time ago, apologies for the delay. OK, now that we have gotten that out of the way....my, my, my *licks lips* is Pharrell Williams hot or what?
Overall, the concert was amazing (I have to admit, I don't know that many NERD concert but I am willing to listen to anything that comes out of Pharrell's mouth) LOL! Ok, enough with my Pharrell crush.!
The one lovely thing about this concert ( besides the fact that we didn't pay for it) was meeting a lot of my Twitter peoples. There were performances by Ntando, Zulu Boy, Malaika *yawn* , future sound, Kwela Tebza and DJ Tira before Nerd took over the stage.
Save for Malaika's performance which seemed to go on and on, I really enjoyed the concert. Many thanks to Hansa Pilsener and to Jucy Africa for the tickets.

Ntando On Stage - he is a great performer, I must add.

Yes, I might *just* be addicted to my BlackBerry.
I don't know this lady but I found her outfit very interesting so I asked for a picture.

It was *that* much fun!
What I Wore To Fastrack Day
Selasa, 15 Februari 2011
Yesterday was the first day of Jo'burg Fashion Week and before I blog on the actual show and designers, I want to show you what I wore.
I was caught between an LBD, Animal Print Dress and a Gold Sequined Dress. The LBD won, for many reasons - one of them being that it shows off my legs *heek heek*.
Dress: Sowearto
Shoes: Rage
Bag: Vintage shop
Earings: Identity
Bracelet: Forever New
Talk about cost effective glam.!

53rd Annual Grammy Awards - Red Carpet
Senin, 14 Februari 2011
Last night, American musicians, who's who's and likers of things LOL were at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. I think the pressure to be different and creative is making a some people to go for distasteful outfits but I'll let you be the judge.
My personal best dressed, Eva Longoria...can this woman glow any more than she already does? She looks amazing.
OMG - she has lost sooooo much weight and she looks ravishing - Jeniffer Hudson
John Legend and girlfriend Chrissy.John Legend's suit is on point, Chrissy's wrap-around-material....not so good!
Aowa Kim, NO!
If I had a body like Heidi Klum's, I would never wear anything like that!!
This J-lo look is starting to get old, I get the feeling that I have seen this dress before *yawn* ....next
Too rebellious, too wrong, too revealing - Rihanna
WTFrikkadel was Willow Smith wearing?
In the jungle, the mighty jungle...Nicki Minaj roars!! What was she thinking?

Jordin, this dress just managed to take all your Sparks away! FUGLY.!!
What the FUNK? Her name is Gramma Funk and I feel sorry for her....she obviously doesn't have any friends. SMH!!
And now ladies and gentlemen...for the genius that is Lady Gaga!
Lady Gaga making her GRAND entrance while inside an egg!
