I Have Moved

Minggu, 01 April 2012

This blog was going to be about SA Fashion Week, the last shows are happening right now as I blog. I decided against that idea (for tonight) and instead I'm gonna let you into my personal space, just a little bit. This past weekend I was moving house, its actually more stressful than it lets out to be or is assumed to be *wheeew*.

I moved into a bigger apartment and for some time (even now) I felt (feel) guilty for having all this space to myself, am I normal? Lark, the weirdest thing is that I know I deserve all the things I work for, partly because I do work bloody hard sometimes and mainly because I am fabulous *bats eyelashes* LOL but I can't seem to shake the guilt away, I wonder why?

A lot has been happening in my life lately (a WHOLE lot hey *giggles*). The downside of it is that I have just been so, so busy with work and more work and my thesis and more varsity work, I have somewhat neglected the things that are most important to me, such as myself....duh LOL, my friends and family and my blog. I need to stop working like I have no life, like seriously now.

You know with everything that's happening, it makes me believe that; "I am alive, I am young, I am blessed, my life is progressing and I'm living" and for that, I am utterly grateful to God.

Anyhoo, back to more positive, lighter news, the network at my new place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! and that means I will blog more often and make The Kokonut Stylist my second job, as I have always wanted to, that's awesome aaannnddd a bigger place means I get to have more space for shoes and clothes!! *chuckles*. I get to decorate the interior to reflect my personality, I get to have more visitors, I get to cook for the poeple I love more often, amazeballz!

Side Note: I am becoming the woman I wouldn't mind for my younger sister/cousins and nieces to become one day. Its an amazing feeling to see some of my goals(however small) come to life. Whatever it is you want, keep at it, one day the pieces will all come together to form the big picture you always imagined.

*Here's to more bigger things in life*.....here here!!

Mercedes Benz Johannesburg Fashion Week - Runway Report

Kamis, 15 Maret 2012

This was rumored to have been the biggest Jo'burg fashion week thus far, I feel very bad for not having attended even one show. Here is a brief report on what SA designers think we should be rocking for winter.

1. Abigail Betz
Probably my most favorite collection from the fashion week. Very chic, very femine, with a touch of the 50s, Perfect! Somehow reminds me of the wardrobe from "The Help".

2. Kathrin Kidger
This collection reminds me of the fall season. When leaves are turning brown, grass is some weird but lovely green-brown color. This is autumn personified, lovely collection.

3. Fabiani
This is the Gucci-kinda fashion, the ultimate male fashion. The one that makes me weak on my knees. Men in very well-tailored suits are to die for!

4. David Tlale
This guy is honestly on some other level, he is SA fashion royalty. Look at his collection and accept it, don't argue. Sequens, check! Leather, check! A touch of fur, check!

5. Siyethemba Ngwenya
I know a lot of people have not heard of Siyethemba but this is a force to be reckoned with where male fashion is concerned, WatchThisSpace.com!!

6. Hyde Park Collection
This was a mixed collection of various designers from Hyde Park Corner. Mostly just ready to wear fashion, lovely!

Usher - *Swooons*

Senin, 12 Maret 2012

A moment of silence is needed.

So on Saturday Soweto was the other place to be (other than the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week finale, of course). We had waited and waited for Usher and d-day finally arrived. There was rain and it was cold but dzaaaaaaayuuuum did Usher give it his all, he made it all worth it. His soul was in it and for me that was the best concert I have ever been to. Thank you so very much Mr. Raymond.

Ja neh...*fans self*

Usher with one of the dancers.

Usher then called this other girl to stage, read about it here. That girl is very, very lucky, might I add. They were properly bumping and grinding, you should have heard the screams. ...*fans self* LOL!!

My friend Ndume was celebrating her 22nd birthday on Saturday as well so it was a big ball of excitement for us.

Mayhem!!

Here's to a weekend well spent.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Jo'burg

Senin, 05 Maret 2012

It's finally here, one of the most sought after events for any fashionista; the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Jo'burg Autumn/Winter collections! As we eagerly await the 25 designers, 20 shows over 4 days, I am beside myself with joy and am specifically looking forward to Fastrack day!!

African Fashion International (AFI) teamed up with Mercedes Benz South Africa together with Hyde Park Corner to bring this year's internationally competitive Jo'burg fashion week. African Fashion International (AFI) Executive Chairperson Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe was quoted saying: "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg, brought to you by AFI, showcases South Africa’s established and emerging designers, offering a platform of visibility, relevance and access to the market.” I couldn't agree more.

As was with the last fashion week last year(spring/summer collections), this year's AFI fashion week will kick-start with Fastrack day which basically show-cases young and up-coming designers. This concept started last year and Foschini is once again partnering with AFI on this one.

Some of the designers that will be showcasing include:
Distinctive Man
KZN Fashion Council
Gavin Rajah
Leigh Schubert
Heni
Kluk CGDT
Mosewamosa
Blackcoal Clothing
Tashkaya
Danielle Margaux
David Tlale
C-squared
Fabiani
Dax Martin
ThabaniMavundla
Grapevine Clothing
Loin Cloth And Ashes
Avant Apparel
SperoVillioti
ThulaSindi
Wild Fig
Abigail Keats

Here's to a fashionable week in Jo'burg!!
