Allow Me To Preach!

Senin, 07 Maret 2011

You know life can sometimes be hard for a twenty-something-year-old. Fashion loving or not, life can be full of sh!t sometimes. As life deals me my fair share of trials, hardships and all of that,I thank God for my faith which keeps me sane and of course for my family (without whom I don't know what I would do).

Note to self: Koko, You are blessed beyond reasonable doubt and this too shall pass.

Come to think of it, life would not be as interesting if all we ever did was win shopping sprees, go shopping and decorate apartments...I know for a fact it wouldn't. I had to let this out and there is solace in the fact that I'm not the only one (and you are, by no means, the only one) who goes through challenges at times. With that said, we SOLDIER ON!

All Hail To My Vintage Handbag!

Jumat, 04 Maret 2011

Last weekend I inherited a lovely handbag from my big sister who had ALSO inherited it from my mom. I tricked my sister into giving me the bag, told her I'd return it next season, well, just between you and me, I won't be returning it. *Huge grin*

Isn't she lovely?

When I saw this lovely handbag I immediately thought of Aldo shoes to go with it.

I need a pair of these shoes in my life.

Heres to brining back the 70s!!

I'm On The March Issue Of CLEO Magazine!

Kamis, 03 Maret 2011

"I'm on the March issue of Cleo Magazine" - that sounds B.I.G!, you'd swear I was on the cover. Well, for someone who has never been in a magazine for anything, it's very exciting!

In January I was lucky enough to win a R5,000.00 shopping spree at Sandton City plus a camera and the use of a lovely Ford Fiesta for the weekend, I wrote about it on this post!

Even though mine is the smallest picture I have EVER! seen in a magazine, I am still very much excited about being on Page 10 of the March 2011 issue of CLEO!

Now, go get yourself a CLEO Magazine and read "ALL" about me. LMAO, I've always wanted to say something like that!!

Noni Gasa Featured In Vogue Italy - The Black Blog

The ever stylist and ever beautiful Noni Gasa was deservedly featured in Vogue Italy - The Black Blog. She joins the likes of the also stylist British-Nigerian Tolula Adeyemi, who has also been featured in The Black Blog. I am extremely happy and excited for Noni Gasa.

WOW!

Her beautiful face is the work of art.

She says she developed her fashion identity as a teenager and calls herself a late fashion bloomer.!

Noni claims that black clothing always does the trick for her.

Says that living in South Africa and having access to the fashions of all our eleven cultures and tribes allows her to dress in at least one "conversation piece"(an item that tells a great story and has passed through the hands of a gifted artisan)

What I Wore At The Wedding

Rabu, 02 Maret 2011

If you follow my personal account on Twitter @Koko1808, you will know that by midday on Saturday, I still did not have a dress to wear to the wedding I was invited to (also on Saturday afternoon). I am still SMH at myself for this, why I went for the 10km run in the morning without a dress is beyond me. Anyhoo, I believe all is well that ends well as I found thee purrfect dress.!

The wedding deco was to-die-for!

Before I tell you what I wore I must say, in my entire 24 years of living, I have never been to a more romantic wedding.! My word, I shed a tear or two and I now change my mind about marriage, I also want to get married. YES, PLEASE!! I wish the groom and bride (who are soo evidently in love, its the biggest inspiration ever) lots of wonderful and happy years together.
Dear Future Husband: (wherever you may be in the world), we are definitely having an evening wedding, please don't argue just accept it.

Now back to what I was wearing. I  must say that finding the perfect dress to wear was not so difficult, I already had a 70s inspired outfit in mind anyway (Refer to my new 70s-inspired-look article HERE). The task that seemed impossible was 'accessorizing' the dress. I believe, now more than ever, that us women are the most fickle of creatures. I sat in my apartment crying (yes, I am emotional like that) when I was caught between black and nude-gold-inspired accessories. I was BBM-ing my friends and when my friend Kat finally came to fetch me I was still undecided *sigh*.

Pulling long faces while deciding between black or nude-gold accessories :-( The decision that ultimately brought me to tears.

When I asked my friend Kat which look to go with, he said the one with black accessories and I knew I had to go for the other option LOL, I don't know why (Don't we women ALWAYS do that?). Anyhoo, I was very happy with the result.

Not to shabby hey....

I felt like a black Maryln Monroe in that famous dress of hers...*heek heek*.

See what I mean? Yes? No? LOL! OK fine. :-)

On a rather serious note: I had so much fun and I think people who fall head over heels in love and get married are truly blessed.

'Nuff said: I TOTALLY love this picture.!

I'm mos def getting married!

i LOVE blogging!

I Really, REALLY love blogging. Ok, you get the picture? Thanks :-)

For the past few days, my life has been SO hectically busy I haven't even had a chance to stop and breathe. OK, maybe not but you get the picture, right? I miss blog surfing and it feels like my life is disoriented and I am not living in my space the way things have been hectic. I have projects, submissions and deadlines to meet which will ensure I can have money to go shopping *yay*. I know you are all looking forward to pictures of what I was wearing at the wedding and the fact that I still haven't blogged about it breaks my heart. In a few more days, this will all be over and it will be blogging as usual, hang on in there :-). I am reminded of this quote: "Do today the things you HAVE to do, so that you can do tomorrow the things you WANT to do."

 I have to go...for now.

I miss blogging :-(
